Kintsugi: Brokenness and Repair (09/03) 2hrs. 6-8pm (pizza provided) In this session, students will learn about brokenness and repair in Jewish tradition – in ourselves and in the world, and we will learn and practice the art of Kitsugi from Japan, also known as ‘Golden Joinery.’ In Kintsugi, when a vessel breaks, it is repaired; however the crack line remains visible and is painted over in gold. Every year at the high holidays we have a chance to remake ourselves and to examine our metaphorical cracks, and in this session we will connect Jewish tradition with art practice in order to explore together how we hold brokenness and face imperfection in our own lives. Perhaps we will also find new ways to put the pieces together. Students will also leave with a beautiful kintsugi bowl of their own at the end! $10 for members and $15 for non-members
