With heavy hearts and mixed bittersweet emotions, we wanted the community to know that after 34 years we have decided to close the preschool after the end of camp this summer (2025). We have had a wonderful run, and we have the distinction of being the last surviving Jewish preschool in the western suburbs. This has been an exceedingly difficult decision to make.

We wanted to thank everyone who has supported the preschool over the years, and that is a very long list. We cannot possibly mention everyone by name, but please know we will be forever grateful for your support!  We do want to give special recognition to the past directors of our preschool. They all were absolutely phenomenal, and their dedication, creativity, and passion helped to provide a wonderful preschool education to many, many children over the years!

Lastly, we want to thank all of the families over the past 34 years who have supported CBS Preschool and entrusted their children’s preschool education to us. We strongly believe in the great value of helping forge a strong Jewish identity at a young age.  We have seen its benefits first-hand.  Many of our students and their families have formed life-long bonds. Many of the children from our early years are having families of their own now and are focusing on providing a Jewish education for their children.

The preschool room will continue to be a fixture at Congregation Beth Shalom.  It will still be used as a loving space. Perhaps down the road if the needs of our young families change, the idea of reopening the preschool can be looked at again.
